EDIMAX Proudly Joins the AirBox Air Quality Conference Between Taiwan and Thailand

In order to support the new southbound policy in regards to air quality and hazard control, EDIMAX is proud to be invited and participate in such a grand event.

Taipei, Taiwan

EDIMAX, the leader in network communication for more than 30 years, was invited to an international conference that concentrates its efforts on air quality improvement and hazard preventions. The Taiwan Association of Disaster Prevention Industry hosted this conference and invited 5 Thailand officials and one mayor candidate, coming all the way to Taiwan to discuss topics such as hazard prevention, IoT, communication, AI, air quality sensing/monitoring and in other related industries. With the guidance of Managing Director Dr. C.M. Peng, the conference was held at the Academia Sinica, where a team of experienced air quality specialist joined in the discussion in sharing forefront knowledge regarding air quality and AirBox studies around the world.

Surprisingly, the guests from Thailand are all first timers in politics, ranging with entrepreneurs to tech backgrounds, such as Mr. Klaikong Vaidhyakarn, a true believer and visionary in technological improvements towards the well being of mankind and especially that of the air that we breathe in. Furthermore, working closely with governments and renowned corporates such Google, Microsoft and more, encouraging them to share beneficial data for the greater good. Mr. Klaikong Vaidhyakarn emphasizes that he has a great impression of the determination coming from Taiwan, to seek for quality air through the use of air sensors.

With extreme temperature changes, worldwide climate control and temperature inversion, Bangkok has experienced high pollution with AQI readings of up to 150 for well over a whole month. Such air pollution caused public health concerns and pushed for an air quality red alert, suspending all 450 public schools and a decrease in tourism in poplar city areas, not to mention the additional air pollution caused by the forest fire from the neighboring country.

This conference is based on the experiences with AirBox projects in Taiwan, Dr. Chen, Ling-Jyh from Academia Sinica shared his experience on how to use simple air quality sensors, IoT technology and big data analysis in order to study and make a difference in air quality control and preventions. As of now, there are a large amount of data collected, which includes that of Bangkok, with EDIMAX sensors spread across the country, sending back PM2.5 data across the cloud.

There were many different types of AirBoxes on display at the conference to exchange thoughts and ideas, this goes the same with EDIMAX, gifting EdiGreen AirBoxes to the guests and strengthening the relationship and technical exchanges between Taiwan and Thailand.
