EDIMAX announces the cooperation with the Taipei City Government in Taiwan. Through a press conference held at the Taipei Government Hall, the Smart Taipei project initiates the implementation of EDIMAX KIOSKs throughout parts of the Xinyi District area, an area that is considered the commercial hub of Taipei and is home to the likes of the world renowned Taipei 101 skyscraper and other renowned landmarks. The EDIMAX KIOSK combines multi-cloud service features such as the EdiGreen AirBox sensor, cloud platform, Enterprise Grade 802.11ax high-speed Wi-Fi internet system, OOH outdoor multi-media display and much more. All the latest robust features are here to bring quality connectivity and data to the mass public for free. All this contributes towards a solid POB (Proof of Business) service plan, taking the IoT internet industry to a new level.

World’s Largest IoT Provider | Creating Intelligent Services for the City

EDIMAX is the largest IoT network provider in the world, with the likes of over ten thousand PM2.5 air quality stations located worldwide, the EdiGreen AirBox technology is incorporated with the Civil IoT Taiwan plan, with over six thousand monitoring units located throughout Taiwan. EDIMAX has gone through a tremendous effort to meet the high standards set by the Taiwan Government, in regards to the business model, usability and hardware capability. The EDIMAX KIOSK has excels in each department with these five major functions: internet/cloud services, tourist guide, air quality sensor, advertisement display and emergency warning system.

Industry Leading | MESH Wi-Fi and EdiGreen AirBox

Besides the high hardware specs, there are tons of new innovative designs, such as the exclusive 802.11ax easy to set-up Mesh Wi-Fi that covers a wide area range, providing quality, stable Wi-Fi to the public for free. In addition with the exclusive EdiGreen air quality AirBox sensor that is connected to the online cloud system, providing constant data across over six thousand AirBoxes located across Taiwan. Furthermore, the KIOSKs are connected to the government for direct emergency announcements or other important messages, all shown on the double sided high-resolution, auto brightness adjustment 55 inch touch displays.

On the hardware side of things, the KIOSK weighs in at 400Kg, with an ultra sturdy construction, capable of withstanding earthquakes of 7.7 magnitude and strong winds rating of up to 20 Knots. On the side of the KIOSK, users can find multiple fast charge USB sockets and an additional tablet for users to interact/input with. The EDIMAX wireless MESH system (802.11ax Wireless AP) can effectively cover a range of up to 150 meters and at the same time providing free Wi-Fi connection of up to 200 devices. On top of the KIOSK, you can see the unique EDIMAX full outdoor air quality solution device (AI-3001WE) that can detect the surrounding area and provide PM2.5, humidity and other environmental readings through the large display or through the EdiGreen cloud platform.

Secure Multi-Cloud Capability | Creating Value for Business

Having a great hardware setup is not enough, EDIMAX has gone further to provide cloud and software enhancements that brings the whole system together. With a brand new team, dedicated to cloud services 24/7, offering cloud integration for system, air quality readings and advertisement management. When it comes to cloud security and privacy, the KIOSK is no slouch, through the X.509 high spec encrypted security level; every data transfer is secure and anonymous. Creating business value, EDIMAX implemented the OOH (Out-of-Home) advanced outdoor media cloud management system that ensures easy advert rotation control over-the-cloud and powerful processing power for creative advert display.

Currently, adverts from the fashion industry, FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) and other adverts are on display, showing promising results. Location is the other important factor in creating value for businesses. The location of the KIOSKs are within busy areas that most people walk pass or in crowded surroundings, with past stats of 68 million people a year from the Taipei 101 MRT station and additional crowds visiting/shopping from top global boutiques. All this said, maximizing exposure and staying cost effective is what EDIMAX KIOSK has achieved.

The EDIMAX KIOSK project planes to increase its location to 200 spots across Taiwan, expanding the successful IoT business model through the Smart City initiative by providing useful, powerful, secure and stable features that elevates the quality of life.
