NCTU is actively building up the first Smart Campus in Asia Pacific, President Chang said, to utilize these smart technologies and various innovative applications in Internet of Things (IoT), big data, artificial intelligence and virtual reality, we are pleased to have industry-university collaborations such as AirBox projects with Edimax. With the newest innovation and the aforementioned cooperation in campus, a living lab foundation is set in stone in the university. The NCTU EdiGreen air quality monitoring system enabled today will allow 15,000 of NCTU students and teachers conduct more studies on IoT and Big Data Cloud technologies and enjoy intelligent life in school.
Edimax Chairman, Mr. Gene Renn, said that Edimax has already deployed more than 3,600 AirBox air quality monitoring stations worldwide, and the number is still on the rise. The EdiGrenn ecosystem is currently the world’s largest IoT platform for air quality monitoring system. With over 30 years’ experience in IT and networking industry, and now the support of NCTU, Edimax is very honored to be providing talented Taiwanese pupils the know-how of advanced technologies to accelerate Taiwan’s establishment in the IoT leading role.
The co-hosted project includes 21 air quality monitoring stations deployed across five campuses of NCTU, the EdiGreen air quality display wall, the EdiGreen Home indoor air quality monitoring solution, Design Space IoT classroom and, finally, the IoT technological and operational experience exchange platform. Both the dean of Department of Computer Science of NCTU, Chien-Chao Tseng, and the general manager of Edimax IoT BU, Kevin (Kai-Tse) Huang, agreed that these stations are set to inspire students’ creative thinking and learning more about IoT technology, where operational experiences leading to business startups can be carried out from here. The cooperation with NCTU is also a great opportunity to help move Edimax ahead in its development in the IoT industry.
