Company presents 24 10/100Mbps + 2 Gigabit port Ethernet Web Smart and Managed Switch with advanced features
Edimax Technology (TSEC: 3047), today announced the availability of a Gigabit Ethernet Switch Series that consists of a Web Smart Switch (ES-5224RS+) and a Managed Switch (ES-5224RM+). These full-featured switches integrate Gigabit technology to remove bottlenecks and speed up access to the network backbone. The ES-5224RM+ and the ES-5224RS+ are both equipped with 24 10/100 BASE-TX Fast Ethernet ports and 2 integrated Gigabit RJ45 SFP module ports for flexible fibre connections.
The ES-5224RS+ and the ES-5224RM+ are compatible with 802.3 Ethernet, 802.3u Fast Ethernet and 802.3z Gigabit Fibre standard. Both switches provide Smart features such as QoS (Quality of Service) features that are suitable for today’s multimedia applications. Through a web based interface, administrators can setup Q-in-Q VLAN’s (up to 4096 groups) to segregate traffic and QoS to prioritize mission-critical data, such as real-time voice or video packets. Network monitoring tools such as port mirroring improve network efficiency and help track network errors or unusual packet transmission without interrupting the dataflow.
The isolated group feature enables administrators to define certain ports as protected to enhance data security. The Mac-based port trunking with automatic link Fail-Over enables business users to increase availability and aggregate bandwidth between servers and switches. In addition, the automatic link-Fail-Over ensures that if one of the ports fail, traffic will automatically be redirected to the remaining active ports. Both switches are easy to control with secure built-in web based management that enables remote configuration via the web browser.
The ES-5224RM+ supports additional features such as SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) and RMON, to simplify the network management. Furthermore, the ES-5224RM+ supports Broadcast Storm Control to limit excess traffic, Rapid Spanning Tree and VSM (Virtual Stacking Management) to support up to 16 switches via a single IP. The 802.1x Access Control enhances network security by enabling the administrator to set up a user authentication, limit the number of MAC addresses per port and define static MAC addresses for each port.
